  • Total Time: 3 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 frozen yeast dinner rolls, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, divided
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Thaw the frozen yeast dinner rolls at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. Once soft, cut each roll in half and roll into small balls. Place them on a baking sheet, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for 2-3 hours until they double in size.
  • Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, butter, pumpkin puree, vanilla, cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, and powdered sugar until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag.
  • Prepare the Coating: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar with the remaining pumpkin pie spice.
  • Fry the Dough: Heat the oil to 325°F in a deep pan. Fry the dough balls for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
  • Coat and Fill: While warm, roll the dough balls in the sugar mixture. Poke a small hole in each and pipe the pumpkin cream cheese filling inside.
  • Serve Warm: Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
