Ingredients
- 12 frozen yeast dinner rolls, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, divided
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Thaw the frozen yeast dinner rolls at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. Once soft, cut each roll in half and roll into small balls. Place them on a baking sheet, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for 2-3 hours until they double in size.
- Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, butter, pumpkin puree, vanilla, cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, and powdered sugar until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag.
- Prepare the Coating: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar with the remaining pumpkin pie spice.
- Fry the Dough: Heat the oil to 325°F in a deep pan. Fry the dough balls for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
- Coat and Fill: While warm, roll the dough balls in the sugar mixture. Poke a small hole in each and pipe the pumpkin cream cheese filling inside.
- Serve Warm: Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
